T-Wolves dip into Alberta pipeline to shore up backcourt

UNBC women’s basketball program headed back east to help solidify its backcourt.

Blumhagen, a soon-to-be graduate of W.H. Croxford High School has spent the last three seasons playing varsity basketball for head coach Diane Hilko’s Cavaliers.

“I committed to UNBC not only for basketball but because it had a small campus and the program I wanted,” said Blumhagen who plans to join the BSc Psychology program at UNBC. “As for basketball I’m excited to play for Coach Sergey because he has plenty of experience and I feel like all-around it will be a great fit.”

“I love basketball because it’s an escape. When I’m stressed and overwhelmed it’s a great way to get it all out,” remarked Blumhagen whose strengths include: shooting, hustle, dedication and intensity. “I’m excited to play in the Canada West conference because I’ll be playing with likeminded people that are as dedicated and wanting to improve.”

Academically, Blumhagen has made the W.H. Croxford honour roll in each of the previous three years. In Grade 10 she received the Rocky View School Division’s Coach’s Award and was named a league all-star during her Grade 11 season.
