The Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League have signed Prince George Cougars Captain Hudson Thornton to a contract for the 2024-25 season.

Thornton, 21, notched 74 points (18g, 56a) over 68 games to finish fourth in points among all WHL defensemen.

Conyr Hellyer scored at 8:19 of the second overtime period to give the Vees a commanding 3-0 series lead.

WHL:

It appears the Prince George Cougars are headed for a sellout in the first two games of their WHL 2nd round series against the Kelowna Rockets at CN Centre.

As of 5:00 Tuesday night, the Cougars report there are less than 300 tickets left for Game 1 on Friday at 7:00 & under 500 tickets left for Game 2 on Saturday at 6:00.

The Cougars, who have won 13 in a row, went 6-1-1 in eight regular season meetings against the Rockets.

The series will shift to Kelowna for Games 3 and 4 on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 16th and 17th.

The other WHL Conference semis start Friday as well with Everett at Portland, Red Deer at Saskatoon and Swift Current at Moose Jaw.
