Fifth-year forward Devin McMurtry (#8) of the UNBC Timberwolves men’s basketball team has been named the Canada West Third Star of the Week. In a pair of wins over Mount Royal in Calgary (92-85 & 76-64) McMurtry had a two game combined total of 33 rebounds and 24 points. The Timberwolves are 7-7, holding down third place and the final playoff spot in the Explorer Division. UNBC will host the MacEwan women and men Friday at 6 and 8pm and Saturday at 5 and 7pm. (Special Olympic athletes will be in attendance and featured on Friday, including a Special Olympics basketball game at half time of the UNBC men’s game).
–The (20-29-1-1) Prince George Cougars host the Seattle Thunderbirds Friday and Saturday as the Cats begin a
four game home-stand.
–The (22-19-0-4) Prince George Spruce Kings visit three Mainland Division opponents on the road this week starting Thursday in Langley.
–The (26-5-1) Cariboo Cougars resume action Saturday at 7:15pm and Sunday at 8:30am at Kin 1 when they host Kootenay. Saturday’s game will feature Jameson Jones Night with proceeds going to BC Children’s Hospital.
